Your phone, without the distractions.
Detox quiets the scroll, the reflex opens and the hundred quick checks, with a tool for each.

Everyone loses time differently. Detox meets you where you do.
You choose exactly which apps and websites each rule covers.

When one quick look becomes an hour
Detox notices when you've been scrolling without a break. After the time you choose, the app takes a short pause. The streak breaks, and you get to decide for real.
In the app: Session limit
When you open apps without thinking
Pick the hours that matter, like your mornings or your work time. Apps stay closed then. Really need one? Wait a few seconds first. That's often enough to change your mind.
In the app: Scheduled block
When quick checks add up
It's never long, it's just all day. Give an app a budget, like 1 hour a day. When it's used up, the app stays locked until tomorrow.
In the app: Daily limit
When one video turns into twenty
The free Detox extension hides Shorts, Reels and endless feeds on websites. Search and the videos you came for still work.
On your iPhone, Detox pauses whole apps. In your browser, it can remove just the Shorts.

When one site eats your afternoon
Give any website a daily time limit, or block it outright. You add the sites, and Detox keeps count.

As firm as you need it to be.
When an app is blocked and you open it anyway, Detox can still let you in. You choose how hard that is, rule by rule.
The first time is quick. Each time you open a blocked app again today, the wait grows, up to a minute.

Strict mode
While a block runs, you can't get around it either: no changing the rule, no deleting it, no uninstalling apps.

Built on three ideas from behavioral science.
Catch the urge
Detox steps in the moment the urge starts.
Wood & Rünger, 2016 ↗A little friction
A short wait stopped part of the openings.
Kim et al., 2019 ↗Decide ahead
Limits set ahead of time cut use of those apps.
Allcott et al., 2022 ↗What happens on your phone stays yours.
Your screen time stays on your devices
How long you spend in each app is never uploaded, unless you send us a bug report.
Detox can't see which apps you pick
Apple only shows them to Detox as coded tokens, never by name.
Nothing leaves your browser
The Chrome extension has no account and no tracking. Your settings stay on your computer.
What people say
Real reviews from the App Store.
Questions
Can Detox remove Reels inside the Instagram app?
No. iOS doesn't let any app change another app, so on iPhone Detox pauses or blocks the whole app. On your computer, the browser extension can hide just the Reels on instagram.com.
How much does Detox cost?
The iPhone app is free to try, then it's a subscription through the App Store. You see the exact price for your country in the app before you start, and you can cancel anytime in your iPhone settings.
Is the browser extension free?
Yes. It's free, and nothing leaves your browser.
Which tool should I start with?
Think about the last time you lost track of time. If it was one long scroll, start with a session limit. If it was a hundred quick visits, start with a daily limit.
Is Detox on Android?
Not yet. It's coming.
